User Enablement: Knowledge Base Content Strategy

Content Strategy, Learning Strategy, Instructional Design

The Challenge: An organization had acquired a financial trading platform and required advice on how to effectively train both internal and external users.

Additional Constraint: The training needed to cater to both internal and external users with slight variations in content and assessments.

The Design: A learning content strategy that:

  • Mapped topics, tasks, and assessments, ensuring content overlap between internal and external users was maximized.

  • Recommendations on the best formats for content.

  • Considerations for content localization.

My Contribution:

  • Client Relationship Management: Maintained ongoing communication with the client, asking detailed questions about goals, resources, timeline, and budget to create a tailored strategy.

  • Content Strategy and Mapping:

    • Mapped content in a modular structure, ensuring that shared content was maximized and unique content was clearly defined.

    • Provided guidance on format, media, and style of the content.

    • Identified content gaps and recommended additional modules or content pieces, especially for internal sales audiences.

    • Advised on effective learning formats for the internal audience population.

  • Localization and Assessment Guidance: Offered best practices for localization and assessment development.

  • Change Impact Recommendations: Identified additional considerations relevant for upskilling a sales audience in the context of the change impact.

Samples: Given the proprietary nature of the project and content, samples are not available. A scrubbed version of the original content map is below.
